Lithium Ascorbate Beats Lithium Orotate on Weight-Gain Side Effects, New Preprint Finds

Normotim (lithium ascorbate) outperformed lithium orotate in an animal study without causing significant weight gain. The difference is worth a closer look.

Normotim: Less Anxiety, Less Stress

Rats treated with Normotim were more active and more relaxed during the stress experiments.

Compared to the control group, rats on Normotim showed 35% improvement while animals on the same elemental lithium dose of lithium orotate only showed 14.5%.

Researchers say that it is likely Normotim has high bioavailability at low doses.

Do you care about your weight? Watch out for lithium orotate

Rats receiving lithium orotate gained about 16% of their body weight, while rats receiving Normotim (lithium ascorbate) gained only 3%.

Differences in weight gain on Normotim (lithium ascorbate) and lithium orotate

To put 16% into perspective, for a 160-pound person, that would be about 26 pounds of weight gain.

For lithium ascorbate, the weight change didn't differ much from the control group.
